R&D Grants – changes to ministerial directive

grants-gallery-img3Refinements to the co-funded Callaghan Innovation R&D grants scheme will expand access to some types of business and improve the application process, says Callaghan Innovation CE Mary Quin.

From December 7, the criteria that govern the way Callaghan Innovation manages research and development grants will change.

“More companies will be able to access grants through a broadening of the eligibility criteria.  At the same time, rates of co-funding are being aligned between different grant types to improve equity between companies that receive Callaghan Innovation support.

“More Maori business entities will be eligible for grant funding, recognising the importance of Maori businesses to the New Zealand economy and their increasing focus on innovation.

“Callaghan Innovation is also making a series of improvements to the grant application process to eliminate duplicate requests for information and provide a more streamlined application and assessment process for applicants.”

“New grant applicants will see better guidance material, a new simplified application form, and more information on client reporting requirements.

“These changes, along with internal efficiency gains within Callaghan Innovation, will reduce the processing time for grants and the need to go back to businesses for extra information. We are continually striving to make Callaghan Innovation’s services easier for firms to access and use.”
